Situated just below the Arctic Circle, northern Iceland’s Lake Myvatn is a rarely visited yet spectacular winter destination. The lake’s surroundings offer an incredible variety of landscapes and geological formations, and the area is extremely active volcanically. Today the lake is gaining a reputation as a place for winter adventure, where visitors can enjoy skiing, horse riding, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and superjeep tours across the outlandish landscape. It is also one of the best places in Iceland to witness the Northern Lights.
