Situated in northern India, the Himalayan region of Ladakh – or “Little Tibet” as it is also known – is a wildly dramatic region of towering peaks, fast flowing rivers, remote Buddhist monasteries and unspoiled nature. It is also one of the last strongholds of the elusive snow leopard, of which there may be less than 4000 left in the wild. Now, thanks in part to the work of NGOs such as the Snow Leopard Conservancy, sightings of this majestic big cat are on the increase.
