A three hour drive from Ecuadorean capital Quito, the remote yet luxurious Mashpi Lodge sits at the centre of a 3000-acre cloud forest reserve in the Mindo region. A biological hotspot, the area is home to pumas, ocelots, kinkajous, orchids and more than 500 species of birds, including numerous species of spectacular colibri (hummingbird).
